However, I think at that point it is based on career AOY averages and that puts him in the cut right now. Its interesting that they have done this in a manner that 74 of the 80 will requalify. This is just my take on what I see after reading their article. I have nothing against MLF and enjoy watching it.

BPT PRO PRO
It sure seems like the best route for newer anglers with the dreams of becoming a pro should go the BASS route. If it was a true pro sport it would be much harder for non performing "pro's" to stay on that level and they would want the new upcoming faces and talent. MLF is obviously a business that is really there to make sure they promote their sponsors and the sponsors of current anglers. Therefore, the odds of a young angler wanting to fish at the top level seems to be nearly impossible on the MLF route. Now we are down to only 6 new Pro Circuit anglers entering the BPT. Instead of that spot going to a top 10 Pro Circuit angler it will also go to the next highest ranked BPT angler based on past AOY rankings. However, another spot has opened up because of Timmy Horton retirement. We now are down from 10 new anglers entering the BPT to just 7. Instead they fill those spots with the next three current BPT anglers based on their highest AOY average. Normally that would open up three more spots for new people to get in. However, some BPT also finished in the top ten in the Pro Circuit and double qualified. That would leave 10 spots for others to move up from the Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit - you would think. The next 5 spots are filled with current BPT spots from those that didn't qualify with the highest average AOY points of their careers.

Out of 80 anglers the top 65 in AOY are in for 2023. So the BPT released their Requalification system for 2023.
